The material requirements necessary for PV manufacturing is as diverse as they are technically impressive. Whether it is the material used for wafers, packaging or new materials to further technological advancement, manufacturing depends on the timely delivery of materials with exceptional technical parameters. This Award is open to any materials that have enabled advancement in PV Manufacturing.
Grid parity will be reached by manufacturing improvements as much as by market movements. This Award recognises excellence for tools that improve yield management in PV manufacturing
Once a manufacturer gathers his tools in a fab it is still not the end for obtaining the best out of the manufacturing process. This Award recognises excellence in a process that improve yield management in PV manufacturing.
Any module is only as good as its constituent parts and PV manufacturers are realising the improvements to be found by choosing the correct BOS products. The tools required for PV manufacturing are actualised as a result of many companies providing innovative sub systems and components to the tool manufacturers. These sub systems and components can be a critical enabler for the success of a given tool.
Improving global energy use is what the renewable sector is all about so this Award recognises technologies and processes that enable greater energy usage.
For innovative ideas, programmes, conferences or developments that enhance the progress of the industry and market on a global scale. This can be for an individual, company, country, device, process, networking or event.

With a multitude of methods showing promise and excellence, this award will recognise achievement in innovative techniques that demonstrate the efforts made to address the links between manufacturer and consumer in providing products or services that highlight understanding of those needs.
There is a great deal of emphasis on incorporating clean energy into current grid networks.

One of the original key drivers for pursuing solar power was to alleviate fuel poverty and provide energy to developing regions around the globe.

Currently around 1.5 billion people worldwide live without access to electricity, and without a concerted effort, this number is not likely to drop.

Grid extension is often costly and not feasible in isolated rural areas, or is likely to be accomplished within the medium term in many areas. In such situations, electricity mini-grids can power household use and local businesses. They provide centralized electricity generation at the local level using a village distribution network and, when fed with renewable or hybrid systems, increase access to electricity without undermining the fight against climate change.

If you are one of the companies empowering the rural communities, this is a new category to recognise the manufacturers who have shown innovation in challenging environments.
